What is a Screw Machine?
Screw machining generally refers to multispindle and Swiss-style single-spindle machines used to manufacture precision parts from bar stock quickly and efficiently and in mid-to-high volumes. We are one of the few remaining precision-machining providers in the Southeast with single- and multi-spindle CAM-operated screw machines, although we will focus on multi-spindle screw machining for this page.

Our Process: From Bar Stock to Precision Parts
At Hogge Precision Parts Co., Inc. we are proud to be one of the few remaining contract manufacturers in the Southeast with single & multi-spindle CAM operated screw machines. Our single-spindle machines can work with bar stock up to 1-5/8″ and our multi-spindle machines go up to 2-1/4”.
These machines are ideal for your mid to high-volume applications in free machining materials such as lead-free brass, brass, aluminum, and low-leaded steels.
Our screw machining process is a testament to efficiency. Here’s a glimpse of how we turn bar stock into precision components through multi-spindle screw machining:
- Material loading. Bar stock is carefully loaded into the material magazine and then fed into the workpiece collet, ready to undergo transformation.
- Six stations, up to 18 different tools in the cut. Six stations, one for each spindle, handle up to three machining operations each.
- Rotation and repetition. After each operation cycle, the material rotates the workpiece to the next station, and the process repeats. By the time the workpiece has rotated through all six positions, a finished part drops off.
- Optimized cycle time. Our cycle time is optimized to ensure that the station requiring the longest operation time sets the pace for the entire process.
